aborthwick1.jpg (44763 bytes) Alison Borthwick studied ceramics at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen.

She set up her porcelain manufacturing workshop in Glasgow 1983 before moving to the picturesque village of Buchlyvie, near Loch Lomond in 1989.

Alison skilfully designs and creates the original models and moulds which are used in the production of her wide ranges of tableware, giftware and lighting.

Each piece is slip-cast by hand, fettled, bisque fired and glazed before being  hand painted using a variety of techniques.

The final firing reaches 1280 degrees C, producing a unique and translucent though surprisingly robust finish. SUITABLE FOR OVEN, DISHWASHER AND MICROWAVE USE.

INTRODUCING OUR NEW RANGE OF HAND PAINTED TILE PANELS!

Alison started creating the tile panels a year ago in order to expand and explore her valued painting skills.

Each panel is individually painted/commissioned to your own specifications. They are ideal for incorporating into a new kitchen or bathroom creating a truly unique feature to any room. Or combining calligraphic lettering to create a wonderful sign for house or shop.

Alison will work closely with you during the design stage to ensure you get exactly what you want.

The tiles used are standard 6 x 6 inch earthenware tiles with a simple transparent glaze and can be matched up easily with plain ones available in bulk.
