Alison Borthwick studied ceramics
at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen. She set up her porcelain manufacturing workshop in Glasgow 1983 before moving to the picturesque village of Buchlyvie, near Loch Lomond in 1989. Alison skilfully designs and creates the original models and moulds which are used in the production of her wide ranges of tableware, giftware and lighting. Each piece is slip-cast by hand, fettled, bisque fired and glazed before being hand painted using a variety of techniques. |
| The final firing
reaches 1280 degrees C, producing a unique and translucent though surprisingly robust
finish. SUITABLE FOR OVEN, DISHWASHER AND MICROWAVE USE. |
