Based on a largely self-sufficient croft in North East Scotland,
Alvah Handweavers produce an exclusive range of individually designed handwoven goods
using only natural fibres. Many of the scarves, shawls, throws, wall hangings, cushions
and rugs are created from the fibres of our own rabbits and goats, mostly blended with
silk, cotton and wool. We handspin many of our yarns ourselves on traditional wheels with a minimum of modern technology. Our looms are traditional wooden designs, operated entirely by hands and feet. This gives us the flexibility to produce limited editions which exactly match the customer's requirements for colour, texture and design. We are committed to the highest standards of environmental protection and animal welfare and the business is run with this commitment in mind.
